Bathinda: A city-based differently abled boy, Yashveer Goyal, has been selected for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities of 2019 award. President Ram Nath Kovind will honour Yashveer (20) with the award in New Delhi on December 3. Yashveer will be awarded in the Role Model Hearing Impairments (Male) category. He is hearing and speech impaired with multiple talents and achievements in sports and academic fields. Yashveer had won a gold medal in the doubles category and bronze in the single category during the 10th Punjab State Deaf Badminton Championship in Jalandhar in September. TNS

Two members of NGO beaten up

Bathinda: The police have booked two persons, one of them is yet to be identified, for beating up two members of an NGO at Baba Deep Singh Nagar. Complainant Balkar Singh of Baba Deep Singh Nagar, said, “Harmeet Singh and I are members of Navi Soch Club. Mamam Singh and an unidentified person were having an argument with Harmeet. When I tried to stop them, they attacked us with sticks and iron rods. Besides, they opened fire on us.” A case has been registered in this regard. TNS
