Alka Mittal has been appointed an interim chairman and managing director (CMD) of ONGC, the first woman to head the country’s largest oil and gas producer.

“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the entrustment of the additional charge of the post of CMD, ONGC to Alka Mittal, director (HR), ONGC,” the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said in an order dated January 3. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
