Mumbai: Sensex slumped 486 points on Thursday, largely in tandem with a global selloff as rising cases of the Covid Delta variant in multiple countries and hawkish comments from the US Federal Reserve spooked investors. The BSE index ended 485.82 points lower at 52,568.94 while the Nifty dropped 151.75 points to 15,727.90. PTI

Mankind Pharma gets nod to make Covid drug 2-DG

Drug firm Mankind Pharma on Thursday said it has received licence from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to manufacture and market oral 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG), used for the treatment of Covid. The company will manufacture the product at its facilities in Visakhapatnam and Himachal Pradesh, it added. PTI

Suraksha files resolution plan of Jaypee Infratech

Jaypee Infratech’s Interim Resolution Professional (IRP) Anuj Jain has filed Suraksha Group’s bid, which was recently approved by financial creditors, with the National Company Law Tribunal. On June 23, financial creditors of Jaypee Infratech picked Suraksha Group over NBCC for taking over the insolvent firm. PTI

Coal India to buy 11 rope shovels for Rs1,642 crore

Coal India Ltd (CIL) on Thursday said it has inked a pact for purchase of 11 Russian rope shovels for nearly Rs 1,642 crore. Electric rope shovels play a vital role in opencast mines for loading of material. PTI
