Govt to expedite inspection of crisis-hit Byju’s accounts

Prompted by fresh troubles hitting the edtech major BYJU’S, the Corporate Affairs Ministry said it has asked its field officers to expedite and submit the inspection report of the company’s books of accounts that they had started as far back as July last year.

The latest trouble to hit BYJU’s was on February 23 when a group of shareholders voted to remove the founder Byju Raveendran and his family members from the board over “mismanagement and failures”.

The ministry will decide the further course of action after receiving the report from its Hyderabad office. No details are known about the inspection from the government.

However, BYJU’s said it closed its accounts for 2021-22 and had filed them with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). It is now hoping for an expedited closure of the matter.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
