Commerce and Industries Minister Piyush Goyal held a meeting with US trade representative Jamieson Greer in New York to discuss the first tranche of the bilateral trade agreement between India and the US, All India Radio reported.

The meeting follows recent trade talks in Delhi between Assistant US Trade Representative Brendan Lynch and India’s chief trade negotiator Rajesh Agrawal, where both sides agreed to speed up efforts.

On Saturday, the Commerce and Industry Ministry had informed that Goyal would lead a delegation to the US on Monday to hold discussion with the US side “to achieve early conclusion of a mutually beneficial Trade Agreement”. He was accompanied by Special Secretary in the ministry and India’s Chief Negotiator Rajesh Agrawal.
