GST collection in March fell below the Rs 1 lakh crore-mark due to the lockdown that spanned the entire last week.

The GST collection in February was Rs 1.05 lakh crore, marginally below the Rs 1.10 lakh crore-mark collected in January.

However, the figure for March stands at Rs 97,597 crore while the total number of GSTR 3B returns filed has slipped to 76.5 lakh, indicating that at least five lakh establishments and businesses have opted to avail of the extension of GST return dates.

Of the total collection of Rs 97,597 crore, the Central GST stood at Rs 19,183 crore (Rs 20,569 crore in February), state GST at Rs 25,601 crore (Rs 27,348 crore in February), Integrated GST at Rs 44,508 crore (Rs 48,503 crore in February), which included Rs 18,056 crore collected on imports.
