A flat rupee and rising Covid cases in multiple states also sapped risk appetite, traders said. After a volatile session, the Sensex ended 562.34 points lower at 49,801.62. Similarly, the Nifty slumped 189.15 points to finish at 14,721.30.

ONGC was the top loser in the Sensex pack, declining 4.95%, followed by NTPC, Sun Pharma, SBI, IndusInd Bank, Reliance Industries, Bajaj Auto and Dr Reddy’s. — PTI
