New Delhi: The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) has clarified it has not written to SEBI proposing the launch of new index or to cap any stock in the Index. There were reports that AMFI/AMCs are proposing to SEBI to launch a new benchmark index. The industry will continue to adhere to SEBI guidance on the capping of a single stock, it said. TNS

Trident Group to hire 2,500 women in Punjab

Ludhiana-based Trident Group has collaborated with the Punjab Government for ‘Ghar Ghar Rojgar Yojana’ under which it will hire 2,500 women in 10 months, mainly belonging to below poverty line (BPL) families. The first batch of 250 women will join on October 17. A six-day recruitment drive is underway at Barnala. TNS

Exports increase 6% to $27.58 bn in Sept

India’s exports increased 5.99% year-on-year to $27.58 billion in September, according to the government data released on Thursday. The trade deficit in September was $2.72 billion as compared to $11.67 billion in the year-ago month. PTI

Mindtree Q2 net profit rises 88% to Rs253 crore

IT firm Mindtree on Thursday reported a 87.9% rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 253.7 crore for the September 2020 quarter. The company saw its revenue grow marginally to Rs 1,926 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 1,914.3 crore in the year-ago period. PTI
