Benchmark indices bounced back on Wednesday after a two-day decline, with the Sensex and Nifty climbing nearly 1 per cent each, tracking a positive trend in European markets. The Sensex jumped 547.83 points to settle at 55,816.32 while the Nifty advanced 157.95 points to 16,641.80. PTI

Nod to BPCL’s $1.6 bn investment in Brazil

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday gave approval to Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) to invest an additional $1.6 billion in a Brazilian oil block. It will be done by Bharat Petro Resources Ltd — a BPCL subsidiary — for the development of the BM-SEAL-11 Concession Project in Brazil. PTI

Eight penalised for insider trading in Titan shares

SEBI on Wednesday imposed fines totalling Rs 8 lakh on eight individuals for violation of insider trading norms in the shares of Titan Company Ltd. The transactions were carried out between April 2018 and March 2019 when they were designated employees of Titan Company.
