Utility vehicles continue to steer passenger vehicle sales, as the manufacturers posted a 4.2% growth in the 2024 calendar year to 42.74 lakh units, the highest ever.

In 2023, the total sales were 41.02 lakh units. Passenger vehicles comprise, cars, utility vehicles, including SUVs, MUVs and vans.

Utility vehicle sales were up by 16.8 per cent to 27.50 lakh units, while passenger cars dipped by 14.4 per cent to 13.71 lakh units.
