Mumbai: Sensex surged 222 points to end at its new closing record on Thursday, propelled by gains in index major Reliance Industries amid positive global cues. After trading on a choppy note, it settled 222.13 points higher at 51,531.52. Similarly, the Nifty advanced 66.80 points to its all-time high of 15,173.30. PTI

Fintech major BharatPe raises $108 mn in funding

New Delhi: Fintech major BharatPe on Thursday said it has raised $108 million (over Rs 786 crore) in funding, led by existing investor Coatue Management, at a valuation of $900 million (over Rs 6,551 crore). The company has raised $90 million in primary fund raise and also ensured secondary exit for its angel investors and employees for a total amount of $18 million, it said. PTI

Aditya Mittal named CEO of ArcelorMittal

New Delhi/London: ArcelorMittal on Thursday announced the appointment of Aditya Mittal as its CEO. Aditya Mittal, son of steel baron Lakshmi N Mittal, is the CFO of the company, and will succeed his father in the new role. Lakshmi Mittal, who is currently chairman and CEO, will become the company’s executive chairman. PTI

Rs819-cr RailTel IPO to open on February 16

New Delhi: RailTel Corporation of India on Thursday fixed a price band of Rs 93-94 a share for its initial share-sale, which will open for public subscription on February 16. The IPO is entirely an offer-for-sale through which government will offload 27.16% stake, it said. PTI
