Chandigarh: 0001 fetches Rs 24.30 lakh; Rs 2.4 crore in Admn kitty

The most sought after 0001 registration number sold for more than Rs 24 lakh in an auction held today.

The RLA held an e-auction of vehicle registration numbers of new series ‘CH01-CV’ from vehicle numbers 0001 to 9999 along with left over fancy registration numbers of previous series. A total of 601 registration numbers were auctioned, which fetched a revenue of Rs 2.40 crore.

While registration number ‘CH01-CV-0001’ fetched the highest amount Rs 24.30 lakh, the registration number ‘CH01-CV-0009’ fetched the second highest amount of Rs 10.43 lakh. Number 0007 fetched a revenue of Rs 9.35 lakh while number 0005 fetched Rs 7.07 lakh and 0004 fetched Rs 5.60 lakh in the auction. While 0008 fetched Rs 5.50 lakh, fancy number 0002 fetched Rs 5.01 lakh and 0003 fetched Rs 4.84 lakh.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
