Ten cases out of the total 50 cases that were taken up were resolved with total settlement amount of Rs 13 lakh during a Special Lok Adalat in Panchkula on the National Legal Services Day today.

Ajay Kumar Ghanghas, Chief Judicial Magistrate, District Legal Services Authority, Panchkula, said two benches were constituted at the District Courts of Panchkula.

These were presided over by PK Lal, Additional District Judge (ADJ), and Jyoti Sandhu, Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC), Panchkula. A third bench was constituted at the Sub-Division Court in Kalka.

Ghanghas said the Special Lok Adalat was part of the efforts to reduce the pendency of old cases and deliver timely justice.

"It provided an effective alternative dispute resolution mechanism that saved time and resources for both the judiciary and the litigants," he added.
