The UT Administration has decided to hold 10-day 14th Chandigarh National Crafts Mela at Kalagram from November 29 to December 8.

A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Hari Kallikkat, Secretary Culture, regarding the event. It is a joint initiative of the Chandigarh Administration and North Zone Cultural Centre (Union Ministry of Culture). The main objective is to display traditional Indian handicrafts, handlooms folk traditions, flavours of rich Indian cuisines, folk music, folk instruments and folk dances of India.

The entry time will be from 11 am to 9.30 pm daily. The theme of the mela is “Colours of India”.

There will be star cultural nights (seven nights by NZCC and three by Department of Cultural Affairs) in which renowned artistes/groups will perform. To ensure more footfall in the mela, a theme-based photography competition will be organised by Lalit Kala Akademi.
