The police registered the case on June 24, 2023 at the Mauli Jagran police station here on the complaint of one Jagdish Bhardwaj.
Bhardwaj complained to the police that he lived with his family in a rented house at Mauli Jagran. He said that on June 23, 2023, he came home from work at 8.30 pm and sent his son, Saurav, to buy groceries. He said his son told him that five to six boys were looking for him in the street to settle an old score.
He said as his son was going to get the things, in the park in front of their house, three boys came from behind and three from front and surrounded his son. A boy in a white shirt and slippers stabbed his son, he said, adding that as he came out of the house, the boys fled from there.
He brought his son to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, where the doctors declared Saurav dead.
After completion of the investigation, charges were framed against the accused to which they pleaded not guilty and claimed trial. Amit Khairwal. counsel for one of the accused, argued that the accused were falsely implicated in the case.
Khairwal argued that the police had failed to produce convincing evidence against the accused and that medical reports also confirmed that the wound was not caused by the weapon allegedly recovered from the accused.
After hearing the arguments, the Board acquitted the accused of the charges framed against them.
