A local court has sentenced a 46-year-old woman to undergo 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) in a case registered under the NDPS Act five years ago .

The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the convict, Geeta Devi, resident of Burail village in Sector 45-B here.

As per the prosecution, the police had arrested the accused on September 14, 2018, with 12 injections of Buprenorphine Omgesic and 12 injections of Pheniramine Maleate besides 1.04 kg of ganja . The accused could not produce any permit or licence for keeping these.

After hearing the arguments of the counsel for the accused and the public prosecutor, the court held the accused guilty and pronounced the sentence.
