A local court has sentenced Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Dhanas, Chandigarh, to 10-year rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh after convicting him under the NDPS Act.

As per the prosecution, the accused was arrested on December 30, 2018, with the banned injections when a police party was on patrolling duty. On frisking the accused, 30 injections were seized from him sans documents.

The counsel for the accused said that the accused had nothing to do with the ‘offence’.
