As many as 100 fresh cases and four deaths were reported today in the district.

The tally of active cases in the district has now reached 860 and the toll stands at 170.

Meanwhile, the Health Department has declared Khare village and Rajindergarh village as micro-containment zones after 12 and 6 positive cases were reported, respectively, in the villages. The department has ordered sealing, 100 per cent testing and strict implementation of the Covid guidelines in the villages.

Dr Mohinder Singh Civil Surgeon said the increasing Covid cases was a matter of great concern and people must get themselves vaccinated and follow the Covid guidelines. He said till today, 1,50,619 samples had been collected of which 6,098 tested positive. He said the positivity rate of the district had increased to 6.56 per cent and the recovery rate is 83.2 per cent. He laid stress on testing and wearing masks.

Meanwhile, people were now thronging Civil Hospitals in the district for vaccination and camps are being organised by NGOs, said Dr Kuldeep Singh, SMO, Civil Hospital, Fatehgarh Sahib. — OC
