The police returned 100 mobile phones worth Rs15 Lakh to their rightful owners today. These cellphone, lost at several places in the district, were recovered by the cybercrime cell of the police.

One of the owners came all the way from Saharanpur to get back his Apple iPhone lost during his Mandi Gobindgarh visit six months ago.

Addressing the media on the occasion, SSP Subham Aggarwal said it was a surprise gift from the police to owners. He said the police got complaints regarding lost, stolen and snatched cellphones from respective owners. He said a technical team of the cybercrime cell of the police succeeded in tracing 100 mobile phones. He said all owners were informed about recovery of their cellphones. Forty owners came to the SSP’s office to get their cellphones today. The SSP said rest of the cellphones would also be recovered.

Rakesh Yadav, SP (D), called upon the people to immediately contact the police or call on the helpline number 112 if they lost their mobile phones.
