100 units collected at blood donation camp

Event marks death anniversary of The Tribune Trust founder Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia

The Tribune Employees Union on Tuesday organised a blood donation camp to mark the 127th death anniversary of the founder of The Tribune Trust, Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia.

As many as 100 units of blood were collected at the camp, which was inaugurated by Justice SS Sodhi (retd), a member of The Tribune Trust. Gurbachan Jagat, also a member of the Trust, blessed the donors at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Sodhi lauded the efforts of the union in promoting the noble cause of blood donation. He appreciated the employees for regularly holding blood camps and serving society. The Trust members presented mementoes to the donors.

Anil Gupta, president, The Tribune Employees Union, said it was the 60th blood donation camp organised by the union. He added that the union would also help flood victims of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

Jyoti Malhotra, Editor-in-Chief, The Tribune Group of Newspapers, Amit Sharma, General Manager, Naresh Kaushal, Editor, Dainik Tribune, and Arvinder Pal Kaur, Editor, Punjabi Tribune, were also present on the occasion.

Among employees who have donated blood at least 30 times are Rajan Raikhy (259, including platelet donation), Anil Kumar Gupta (67), Kanwar Karam Singh (57), Rajesh Kumar Sharma (53), Dharmander (40), Vipin Joshi (39), Ruchika M Khanna (37), Dapinder Singh (37), Ishwar Chand Dhyani and Rakesh Kumar (36), Malkiat Singh (33), Robin Singh (31) and Sanjeev Kumar Sharma (30).

The camp was conducted by Dr Suchet Sachdev and his team from the Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGI, Chandigarh. Dr Ratti Ram Sharma, head of the department, was also present.
