As many as 12 councillors of the Nabha Municipal Council filed a mass resignation to register their protest and demanded the removal of civic body chief Sujata Chawla.

The letter containing the signatures of the councillors and stamps have been submitted to Nabha MLA Gurdev Singh Dev Mann.

In August this year, 17 out of 23 councillors had submitted a no-confidence motion against Chawla after the recovery of tractor-trailers parts, which were allegedly stolen from the Shambhu protest site, from a workshop of her husband and AAP leader Pankaj Kumar Pappu.

The MLA admitted that he had received the letter but said the proper procedure had not been followed. In the letter, the councillors demanded Chawla’s resignation or else “their resignation should be accepted”.
