12 trees axed illegally in Raipur Rani block, FIR registered
Panchkula: Twelve trees were illegally cut in Raipur Rani block, prompting the police to file an FIR on a complaint of the Forest Department. According to forest guard Deepak Kumar, they found 12 khair trees axed at Kambala village in Raipur Rani block on February 13. The Forest Department collected evidence from the spot and submitted a complaint to the police. A case was registered in this regard under Section 379 (punishment for theft) at the Chandimandir police station. TNS
Cyclist killed in hit-and-run
Chandigarh: In a hit-and-run case, a 69-year-old cyclist was killed after being knocked down by an unknown vehicle. The complainant, Constable Abhumanyu, posted at the Industrial Area police station, reported that the cyclist, identified as Hari Parsad, was hit by an unknown vehicle near the ITI light point on February 19. He was taken to the GMCH, Sector 32, where doctors declared him brought dead. The police have registered a case in this regard at the Industrial Area police station. TNS
Mobile phone snatched
Chandigarh: Two unknown persons allegedly snatched a mobile phone from Shadur near New Light Society, Sector 51, on February 19. The police have registered a case at the Sector 49 police station.
