13 rounded up during search op in Lalru

Thirteen persons were rounded up during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at Dreamz House Society in Lalru today.

Teams from Lalru and Handesra police stations conducted the search in two towers, having 120 flats. Fifty flats were found to be occupied by tenants. From these, 13 individuals were rounded up for further necessary action.

Dera Bassi DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar said, “The Cordon and Search Operations are being regularly conducted in the Dera Bassi area as many people from other states work and reside here. As people move in and out of the state frequently, the police ensure that no anti-social element slips in under the garb of industrial labour. The entire operation was planned keeping in mind the convenience of residents.”

In another development, the Dera Bassi police held a meeting with Village Defence Committees (VDC) in connection with anti-drug awareness campaign. Cops said new sarpanches and panchayat members attended the meeting.
