134 new Covid cases in Mohali, tally jumps to 10,387

240 recoveries in past 24 hours; death toll up to 194 with five more fatalities

Coronavirus tally in Mohali surged to 10,387 with 134 new cases, even as 240 people recovered from the infection across the district in the past 24 hours.   

Also, five people succumbed to the virus, taking the death toll in Mohali to 194, said the Health Department officials.    

Mohali urban recorded the highest 101 new cases on Wednesday, followed by Dhkoli (12), Dera Bassi (8), Kharar (5), Boothgarh (4) and Gharuan (2), they added.

Banur and Lalru registered one case each.

The dead included a 52-year-old woman from Dappar with no known co-morbidity. She died at Rajindra Hospital.

A 70-year-old woman from Phase 3, Mohali, died at IVY hospital. She was suffering from chronic kidney disease and was on dialysis, said the officials.

Also a 75-year-old woman with comorbid conditions died at Fortis Hospital in Mohali. She was a resident of Dasmesh Nagar, Kharar.

Two men – 61-year-old from Cholta village and 66-year-old from Sector 78, Mohali – also lost their battle to novel coronavirus. Both the patients had underline health conditions, they added.

Out of a total 10,387 cases registered in the district so far,

8,469 have recovered while 194 patients have died. And there are 1,724 active cases.
