Two more minors, allegedly involved in the gang-rape, are on the run.
The matter surfaced on July 29 when doctors at the Civil Hospital informed the police that the minor had given birth. Investigators later confirmed that the girl had been raped on multiple occasions, allegedly by her neighbours and maternal uncle.
Police officials said the girl’s family, migrants from Uttar Pradesh, lived in a slum cluster in Pinjore where the accused were also residing. The 20-year-old suspect, who has already been remanded in judicial custody, is believed to have targeted the girl when her parents were at work. Despite her pregnancy, the family never approached the authorities, and it was only after she gave birth that the case came to light.
On August 22, ASI Sunita arrested the 20-year-old accused, while SI Sukhbir later detained the two minors who have been sent to a juvenile home.
