Sixteen persons have been booked for allegedly attacking over half a dozen waste collection workers of the Municipal Corporation at the Sector 23 dumping ground here on Wednesday morning.
Complainant Ravinder of Palwal, who works as a supervisor for Pooja Consulations, which has been allocated the work of collection and disposal of garbage for the MC, said the incident took place when the workers were leaving the site to collect garbage from the city. He said over 40 persons came as per proper planning and attacked the workers. “They assaulted the drivers and took them hostage in their vehicles. They issued threats of torching the vehicles,” he alleged. He said Ramesh Pal, Pratap, Lakhwinder and Rampal were among those attacked.
On his complaint, the police have registered a case against Joginder, Jile Singh, Ram Singh, Nain, Bhola, Shamsher, Rajender, Rajbir, Jai Prakash, Bala, Raju, Naresh, Subhash, Rakesh, Patasho, Jarnailo and some unidentified persons under Sections 115, 127 (2), 190, 191 (2) and 351 (3) of the BNS.
