19-yr-old youth stabbed, dies

A 19-year-old youth was stabbed to death over an old rivalry at Colony No 4, Industrial Area, Phase I, on Sunday night. Two suspects have been arrested by the police, while raids are being conducted to nab another two.

The victim has been identified as Sandeep, alias Patisha, a resident of Maloya.

The victim’s father Jugnu reported that his son was booked on April 17 this year on a complaint of Varinder, alias Bidi, who was injured in a quarrel at Colony No 4. He said on Sunday, he had gone to the colony to bring Sandeep home when his son’s friend Ashish told him that his son was being assaulted by some persons.

Jugnu rushed to the spot and found Akash, a suspect, stabbing his son with a knife on the chest, while Akash’s brother Vikas and Aman, their accomplice, were thrashing him.

Jugnu, along with his son’s friends Ashish and Nazir Mohammad, tried to save the victim. In the melee, Ashish and Nazir were also injured.

The suspects then escaped from the spot. The victim was rushed to the GMCH in Sector 32 where doctors declared him brought dead.

A case of murder was registered at the Industrial Area police station. The police arrested Akash and his brother Vikas, both residents of Colony No 4. The victim’s father said his son used to drive an e-rickshaw. — TNS
