As many as 21 Benches headed by serving Judicial Officers disposed of a total of 2,083 cases during the National Lok Adalat held at the District Courts here today.

Paramjeet Singh, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, Mahavir Singh, Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, visited the Benches and pursued the cases for amicable settlement.

Of the total 2,083 cases, 55 criminal compoundable cases, 989 cases under Section 138 of the NI Act, three bank recovery cases, 17 motor accident claim cases, 25 matrimonial/family disputes, 72 civil suits and rent cases, 32 executions, two criminal revisions, 16 criminal miscellaneous, 10 civil miscellaneous, 18 arbitration cases’ two civil/rent appeals, 10 criminal appeals, 17 cases of 125 CrPC, 15 cases of the Domestic Violence Act, 44 untraced and one case of Guardian & Succession Act were disposed of at the adalat.

Also, three cases relating to Registrar of Companies Act and Shop Act with fine of Rs 1,17,000, 298 municipal matters were settled with fine of Rs 1,200, 454 traffic challans were disposed of by imposing a fine of Rs 5,68,600.

931 cases settled in Ambala, 122 in Kharar

Ambala: A total of 931 cases were settled at the National Lok Adalat held at the District Courts Complex in Ambala City and Naraingarh Sub-Division here today.

Danish Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Ambala, said a total of 931 cases, including 722 summary, 36 accidental claim, 116 cheque bounce, 34 bank recovery and seven civil cases were disposed of. Hundreds of traffic offenders were let off after warning and imposing minimum fine in the Lok Adalat.

In Kharar, As many as 122 cases were settled amicably and a total settlement of Rs 17,82,953 was made at the two lok adalats at the Judicial Courts Complex here today.

Ravindra Rana, advocate- member, said in one lok adalat, 235 cases were taken up, of which 49 cases were settled amicably. Similarly, in the second lok adalat, 108 cases were taken up, of which 73 were settled amicably.

Award of Rs18.61 cr passed

Ropar: As many as 688 cases were disposed of and awards amounting to Rs 18,61,20,924 were passed at the National Lok Adalat here today. District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA, Harpreet Kaur Jeewan, said the adalat was organised in the District Courts at Ropar, along with civil courts in Anandpur Sahib and Nangal.
