A total of 2,792 cases were disposed of at the National Lok Adalat held today at District Courts Complex, Sector 43, Chandigarh.

Fifteen benches headed by the Judicial Officers were constituted for the hearing of the cases.

Criminal compoundable cases, cases under Section 138 of NI Act, bank recovery cases, MACT cases, matrimonial disputes, labour disputes, arbitration matters, other civil cases, municipal matters and traffic challans were disposed of with the consent of the parties. Thirty-eight cases of matrimonial dispute and 1,630 traffic challans were disposed of by imposing a fine of Rs 16,23,500.

One maintenance case was also disposed of. The parties in the case were residing separately for the last one year and serving in Government Departments. With the intervention of the presiding officer, member and counsel for the parties, the parties decided to live together with an understanding to give second chance to their marriage.
