As many as 2,96,860 people have been registered as voters in 332 gram panchayats of Mohali district. Of these, 1,59,028 are men, 1,37,823 are women, and nine are transgender voters.

The district has a total of 422 polling booths, while 46 RO/ARO offices have been set up for submitting nominations, administration officials said.

The Punjab State Election Commission has appointed Jasvinder Kaur Sidhu, Secretary, Home Affairs and Justice, Punjab, as the Election Observer for gram panchayat elections today. Besides, the dates and venue for training of polling personnel have also been finalised by the SDMs.

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said DDPO Baljinder Singh has been appointed as Nodal Officer, District Control Room, for grievances related to panchayat elections. Voters can contact on 0172-2219250 for any poll-related grievances.

The SSP Deepak Pareek while giving assurance to the Election Observer said that police personnel have been deployed at RO offices to maintain law and order. He also shared the other details of security arrangements for holding the elections peacefully.

Later, the Election Observer also visited the ongoing nomination process at the MC office, Mohali, and Mubarkpur (Derabassi), and interacted with the ROs.
