Two persons have been arrested for thefts reported from three houses in Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26, in June, when the residents of the houses were in institutional quarantine.

The thefts had come to light on June 19 when a few residents, who returned home after completing their 14-day institutional quarantine period, noticed the locks of their houses broken. One of the residents had complained to the police that around Rs70,000, gold and other valuables were stolen from the house. The police had registered a case at the Sector 26 police station.

The police nabbed one of the suspects, identified as Karan, a resident of the colony, on July 26. He was in the possession of some stolen items.

The police came to know that one Suraj was also involved in the thefts. “Suraj was arrested recently in a case registered at the Mani Majra police station and was lodged at Burail jail, following which he was brought on production warrant,” said a police official. Both the suspects are on police remand.
