2 die in mishaps at Dera Bassi

An unidentified bike rider died after being hit by a scooty on the Mubarikpur road on Sunday night.

Local residents said the bike rider was going from Dera Bassi to Mubarikpur side. When he reached near a school, a scooty, on which two youths were riding, came from Mubarikpur side and hit the bike. The victim fell down and suffered severe head injuries. Passersby rushed him to the Dera Bassi subdivisional hospital where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, both scooty riders fled the spot.

The police shifted the body to the mortuary.

In another accident, a 51-year-old biker was crushed under the wheels of a truck near Kudanwala on the Barwala road in Dera Bassi on May 16. The victim has been identified as Ramswaroop of Rampur Sainian.
