Panchkula, December 23

Fire incidents were reported from Maheshpur village, Sector 21, Panchkula, and a flat in the HSVP quarters in Sector 20 today. However, no loss of life was reported in both the incidents.

In the first case, fire broke out around 11 am in a house near Madrasi colony located between Haripur village and Sector 21. Swaram, owner of the house, immediately informed the Fire Department and fire engines reached the site within 10 minutes. The officials managed to douse the flames within a few minutes.

Fireman Pushotam Das said fire broke out due to short- circuit and added that besides, the household items, doors and windows of the house were gutted.

In the second incident, the fire broke out in a flat at ground floor at HSVP staff quarters around 10.30 am. Subramani said he was on duty, while his wife and son were on their way to Kurukshetra. He said his neighbours informed him and the Fire Department. He claimed that fire engines reached their house late.

He said the incident took place due to the short-circuit and he has suffered a loss of Rs 2.5 lakh as household items including beds, refrigerator and TV were gutted.
