Both judokas claimed first position in the selection trials, which concluded today in Delhi. Angel, a student of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23, claimed the pole position in the 48kg weight category by defeating all her opponents through Ippon score ( knockout). In the final bout, she defeated Monalisa of Manipur, an international player.

She is five-time national champion and won gold medals in Khelo India, Cadet National and other events. Angel was earlier selected to represent the nation in Commonwealth Championships. However, after she failed to get travel visa to participate in the respective championships, she was dropped from the Indian squad twice.
