The police arrested a habitual thief and recovered a stolen auto from his possession. The accused was identified as Deepak (20), alias Khau, a resident of Rajiv Colony, Sector 17.

The police said a team led by Inspector Mukesh Saini had set up a naka near the Kalka–Shimla overbridge in Old Panchkula on November 3 where the accused was nabbed on suspicion. He reportedly confessed to having stolen the auto from the Mauli Jagran area around 8–10 days ago.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that the accused was involved in five other cases of theft in the Tricity. He was produced in court on Tuesday and sent to judicial custody.
