During a surprise inspection at Sector 29 Apni Mandi, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) took strict action against vendors using banned plastic carry bags.

A team of sanitary inspectors, led by Joint Commissioner Himanshu Gupta, issued 21 challans to violators found in possession of single-use plastic bags, which are strictly prohibited under the environmental regulations.

Officials said, “The MC is committed to promoting sustainable and eco-friendly practices across the city. Vendors and shopkeepers are urged to avoid the use of banned plastic materials and adopt environment-friendly alternatives.” — TNS
