21-year-old woman in police net for Pinjore murder

The accused, Simran, a resident of Manimajra, was produced in court today and remanded to three days’ police custody for interrogation.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Arvind Kamboj stated that investigation has revealed Simran had contacted the victim, Rajiv Gupta, via Instagram and called him to meet her, after which her family members allegedly murdered him.
The police had on August 22 recovered a decomposed body, about two weeks old, buried in a ditch near Sukhomajri village on the Pinjore-Nalagarh bypass. The victim was later identified as Rahiv. His father told police that Rajiv had was involved with a woman despite being married. The woman’s brother and maternal uncles had earlier threatened him, a matter reported to Chandigarh Police. Rajiv went missing on August 9 after leaving home on a scooter, with his last phone location traced to Pinjore.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), three accused — Kamaldeep alias Kundan (the girl’s brother, resident of Pipliwala), Satyanarayan alias Satta and Vinod—had already been arrested on August 27 and remanded before being sent to judicial custody. The investigation is being led by Sub-Inspector Rajesh.
