According to the police, Suraj Singh of Shastri Nagar, Mani Majra, was arrested from near his house while passing comments at a woman on December 12. A case against him was registered at the IT Park police station. He was later released on bail. In another incident, Suresh Kumar of Jagatpur village was arrested for passing comments at women at a park near Ajanta Society, Sector 51. A case was registered against the suspect at the Sector 49 police station. He was later released on bail. The third case was registered at the Sector 49 police station against Kalash, a resident of Sector 45, who was arrested for passing comments at a woman near Guru Nanak Vihar, Sector 48. Vehicle thief in police net
Chandigarh: The UT police have arrested a 32-year-old man for vehicle thefts. A team led by Inspector Amanjot Singh, SHO of the Sector 39 police station, nabbed the suspect, Ravi Thakur of Sector 41, on December 10. The police said they had a tip-off that the suspect was involved in vehicle thefts. Following this, a naka was laid in Sector 41 and the suspect was arrested while riding a stolen Activa scooter. The police said four two-wheelers were recovered on his disclosure. The police claimed that the suspect was addicted to alcohol and he used to steal two-wheelers to purchase liquor. “He used to sell two-wheelers to gullible people after taking token money. He used to hand over the vehicles and assured the buyers that he will provide NOC for the transfer of vehicles,” said a police official. TNS
City resident held with 10-gm heroin
Chandigarh: A resident of Sector 20 has been arrested by the operation cell of the UT police while possessing heroin. The suspect, identified as Akshay Kumar, was nabbed near a dispensary in Sector 28, while possessing 10 gm of heroin. A case has been registered at the Sector 26 police station. TNS
National Lok Adalat on Dec 14
Panchkula: The District Legal Services Authority, Panchkula, under the aegis of Haryana State Legal Service Authourity will organise National Lok Adalat on December 14. Vivek Goyal, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, informed that a total of 12 Benches have been constituted to dispose of the cases. He exhorted the public to approach Lok Adalats to settle their disputes as it saves money of litigants and also helps in mitigating differences between both the parties. tns

Woman found dead in office
Kharar: A woman was found dead in her office on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Sharanjit Kaur, a resident of Desumajra village, who used to provide tuitions at SCO No. 3 in Ghibby Complex near water tank in the village. Amandeep Singh, SHO, Kharar Sadar police, said the real cause of death would be known only after the post-mortem. oc
