Four Covid deaths and 272 new cases — the highest single-day spike — were reported from Mohali district today. The previous high was on August 30 when 240 cases were reported from the district. As many as 82 patients have recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours.

A 38-year-old man from Phase 3B2 died at Gian Sagar Hospital in Banur. A 63-year-old woman from Sector 114 died at Mayo Hospital, Mohali. A 52-year-old woman from Shahimajra died at the PGI. All three were diabetic. Another 58-year-old man from Baltana died at the PGI.

Most of the cases reported were from Mohali urban (93), Dhakoli (56), Gharuan (59), Kharar (34), Dera Bassi (18), Boothgarh (six), Lalru (four) and Banur (two). The district has so far recorded 4,495 cases, of which 2,058 are active. As many as 2,343 patients have been cured while 94 have lost their lives till now. — TNS
