4 hurt as bus suffers tyre burst on Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway

Passengers had a close shave when one of the tyres of a private bus they were travelling in burst near the flyover on the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway on Thursday morning.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control over the bus after the tyre burst and the vehicle hit the road berm and a power pole, damaging the front portion. Though three-four passengers received minor injuries, the bus driver was stuck between his seat and the dashboard which got displaced with the impact of the crash.

A truck was requisitioned by those present at the spot to pull away the dented portion of the bus and evacuate the driver. Cops said the bus driver remained stuck for almost half an hour but was doing fine now. Long traffic snarls were witnessed after the accident in the morning hours. However, the police soon restored the normal movement of traffic.
