A housing colony at Sector 29-D here witnessed fresh tension on Monday morning after four live cartridges were discovered near House No. 3018, prompting immediate police intervention.

Sector 19 Police Station SHO Sarita Roy arrived at the spot along with a team from the Industrial Area police station. The officers seized the cartridges and collected evidence from the location. The police have sent the material for forensic examination and are closely reviewing CCTV footage from the colony to identify the source and owner of the ammunition.

Locals allege that the cartridges could be linked to the drunk couple who forcibly entered the restricted colony on Sunday evening and drove rashly inside the premises. The intrusion had created a commotion, with society members and security personnel struggling to stop the vehicle. The male intruder, identified as Vijay, 26, allegedly fought with residents and the security guard before being overpowered. He remains in police custody, while his female companion was released after questioning.

However, SHO Roy refrained from drawing any conclusions. She stressed that there was no evidence yet to connect the cartridges with Sunday’s incident and that the police can only confirm after a thorough investigation. She also noted that the colony had recently organised its annual jagrata, which had allowed entry to several outsiders—an angle the police are also examining.

The dual incidents over consecutive days have unsettled the otherwise quiet residential colony. Police officials have assured residents that all leads are being examined and that strong action will be taken once the facts are established.
