45-year-old man gets 20-yr RI in sodomy case

A Special Judge, Fast Track Court, Chandigarh, has sentenced a 45-year-old person to undergo 20 years’ of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for sodomising a 13 year-old boy. The police had registered the case on the complaint of the mother of the victim.

She alleged that the accused sexually assaulted her 13-year-old son on November 13, 2022, after giving him some sedative. During the course of investigation, the accused was arrested. After investigation the police presented the challan against the accused.

After hearing the arguments, Yashika, Judge, Fast Track Special Court, Rape & POCSO Cases, sentenced the accused to undergo 20-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) after convicting him under Section 4 of the POCSO Act.

The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict. It has also recommended a compensation of Rs 1 lakh by the District Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, under the Victim Compensation Scheme.
