The police here today claimed to have nabbed five persons for selling liquor in various parts of the district on Monday.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Dinesh Mehra, a resident of Housing Complex, Sector 14, Krishna Chand and Sandeep Kumar, both residents of Saketri, Sunil Jain, a resident of Jain Market, Kalka, and Arjun, a resident of Mani Majra, Chandigarh.

The police said Dinesh Mehra, an employee with a liquor vend, was arrested for selling liquor illegally near the Motor Market in the Mansa Devi Complex. Krishan Chand and Sandeep Kumar were arrested from near a liquor vend in Saketri, while Sunil Jain was arrested for selling liquor from inside a closed liquor vend at a market in Kalka. Arun was also arrested for selling liquor from a closed vend in Majri Chowk.

The suspects have been booked under Sections 88, 269 and 270 of the IPC and the Disaster Management Act – 2005. — TNS
