Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsThe Chandigarh Police have arrested five suspects in connection with the theft of expensive injections worth approximately Rs 90 lakh from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER). Significantly, the arrests were made within the PGI premises itself, with the theft identified by PGI security staff.
According to police sources, the accused are believed to have stolen a rare injection, costing several lakhs, which was recovered from them. During initial interrogation, investigators uncovered startling revelations and suspect that more people could be involved in the high-value theft.
Police have seized a vehicle allegedly used in the crime, registered in Punjab, and are examining its role in the operation. The incident has raised serious questions about the hospital’s security arrangements, especially in handling such costly medical supplies.
The PGIMER authorities are expected to officially disclose details of the case soon.
