5 hurt in bloody clash at village

Both groups attacked each other with sharp weapons, agricultural implements and sticks for around half an hour as tension prevailed in the village alongside the National Highway. The police brought the situation under control and shifted the injured to the Dhakoli Community Health Centre.
A few youths were under treatment at the hospital while five of them were referred to GMCH-32, considering their serious medical condition.
Eyewitnesses said youths inflicted injuries on each other with sharp agricultural implements, blood splattered all around. The clash between the shepherd and Saini community took place reportedly when one group, going for a religious ceremony, was surrounded and attacked by youths in which five persons sustained grievous injuries. The youths from the Saini community alleged that they were attacked as they were organising a cricket tournament in the village.
Zirakpur SHO Satinder Singh said, “The police are recording the statements of the victims.”
