The UT Sports Department and Government Yoga Education and Health College, Sector 23, organised the first ‘Fitness Day’ of Chandigarh. As many as 515 residents from various sectors participated in this programme.

The foundation for this event was laid by the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh Gulab Chand Kataria. He recommended for the celebration of ‘Fitness Day’ on the third Saturday of event month. The same has been reported first in the same columns on March 23, this year.

The day was initiated by the Government Yoga College and the Sports Department through yoga practice. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness on health. The organiser of this event, Joint Director of Sports Department and Principal of Yoga College, Dr Mahender Singh, welcomed the dignitaries.

Yoga instructors Sarghi Kohli and Dr Gunanidhi Sharma led the practice session along with Kulwant Singh.
