Chandigarh, November 19

The fifth state-level Kala Utsav-2019 began at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, here today.

In the cultural extravaganza, government, government-aided and private schools are participating.

Competitions in various art forms in the male and female category — music vocal (33 participants), music instrumental (41 participants), dance (37 participants) and painting (58 participants) — will be organised.

The state-level function was inaugurated by Education Secretary BL Sharma. The first event was vocal song contest, in which 14 male and 16 female students participated. Judges for the event included Dr Simmi R. Singh, Head, Music Department, MCM DAV College.

Surjeet Singh from the GMSSS 40-B secured the first position; Jaskaran Singh from the GMSSS-35 secured the second postion; and Kunwarveer Singh from GMSSS 37-B secured the third position in the male category.

In the female category, Manjinder of the GMSSS-35 secured the first position, Binita of the GMSSS-23 (NYC) secured the second position and Simranjeet Kaur of Banyan Tree, Sector 48, secured the third position.
