The incident came to light when Sangeeta Jund, project director, Childline 1098, Mohali, was called today for handling a case of an alleged rape of a girl by her three cousins, who are stated to be over 20 years of age.

The child confided in her mother, who took her to the Ambala Civil Hospital, where the child’s allegation was confirmed. The mother later approached the SHO of the Lalru police station.

After a medical examination of the girl at the Civil Hospital in Dera Bassi, the Lalru police registered a case against the three under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and under the Indian Penal Code.
