Nine-year-old mountaineer Saanvi Sood, a student of Yadavindra Public School, won laurels by making a bid to climb Asia’s highest volcanic mountain, Mt Damavand in Iran, along with her father.

In the three-day trekking, both managed to reach the altitude of 5,200m. Due to harsh weather conditions and low oxygen level, it was difficult for Saanvi and her father to continue the trek, and they decided to head back for their own safety.

Later, the ambassador of the Indian Embassy in Iran, Rudra Gaurav Shresth, also honoured Saanvi. “Climbing Mt Damavand was a wonderful experience,” Saanvi said.
