94 Panjab varsity Computer Science Dept students secure placements

The Department of Computer Science & Applications (DCSA), Panjab University, recorded an 84.7 per cent placement rate for its 2023-25 batch. Out of the eligible students, 94 have already been placed, with 72.97 per cent securing on-campus placements and 11.73 per cent through off-campus opportunities.

The highest cost to company (CTC) offered stood at Rs 8 lakh per annum, while the average CTC was Rs 5.76 lakh per annum. A total of 21 companies participated in the placement process, with 14 actively recruiting, including six first-time recruiters. Top recruiters included Edifecs, Infosys, ChicMic, Jungleworks and KeyMouseIT. Established in 1983, the department has a proud legacy, with the alumni placed in a number of globally reputed organisations such as MediaTek, American Express, JTG, and Deloitte.

Lauding the placements, PU Vice-Chancellor Renu Vig said: “The remarkable placement results reflect the department’s commitment to academic excellence and alignment with evolving industry standards. By proactively bridging the gap between academia and real-world demands, the DCSA is nurturing future-ready professionals in the dynamic field of computer science and applications.”

Jasleen Kaur Bains, department training and placement officer, said that students were engaged in diverse activities, ranging from weekly aptitude assessments, to industry guided domain-specific training modules in form of semester projects.
